Over the years, I had come to believe the dominant narrative on the necessity of development and economic growth to improve the lives of all people on our planet. I was constantly baffled that, despite the amazing efficiencies and technical achievements, poverty continued to grow.
When I had the opportunity to continue my education, I enrolled in the Environmental Studies program at York University where I studied the economic and systemic deficiencies that exist in many dominant design methodologies. It is my strong belief that holistic, systemic approaches to design that are founded on ecological economics and strongly sustainable business models can lead to societies and environments that flourish together.
